I got in love with a Muslim man and now i want him to accept Jesus. Where should I start?
Eternal Truth: Who you love is the most important question any person will ever face. Who you love supremely, above all other loves, determines where you will spend all eternity!
The first and most important love question: Do you, personally, love Jesus Christ? Have you become a “born-again” child of God having believed and received Jesus Christ as your Lord, Savior and Friend? Do you believe He is the Son of God who came from heaven to die to pay your death penalty for your sins against Holy God and other people? Have your received Him into your heart and committed to follow
Him wherever He leads you in the way of truth which He has declared in the Bible?
Why is one’s love for Jesus more important than any other love?
Answer: When we love Jesus supremely above all other loves, we are given the very love of Jesus Christ which enables us to love God and our neighbors as they should be loved, that is loved not selfishly but with supernatural love wanting the very best for them now and forever.
-1 John 4:17-19 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.
How did Jesus show His divine, supernatural perfect love for us? He died for us! Jesus gave the very utmost, all that He could give, His very life to lovingly save us and restore us to Holy God as God’s children and a member of His forever family. Jesus took our place in paying the death penalty we deserve for our sins against God and our neighbors.
- John 3:16-18 . . For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
- John 1:12,13 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
If you have given back to Jesus what He rightfully owns, all that you are and all that He has placed into your hands, you truly have been blessed because the Holy Spirit of God has placed a “supernatural / supreme love” in your heart.
With a supernatural / supreme love for Jesus, you will now be able to love others with the same type of love which Jesus loves them.
Jesus’ Supernatural Love for all People: John 15:12-14 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
How does this apply to your sincere and important question concerning your deep natural affection for a man who does not believe in Jesus Christ nor love Him as his Savior?
When we love Jesus Christ supremely above every other love, we will want to do what He commands and be given the power to do so.
Jesus, by His Holy Spirit, left in written form inspired words of how we are to conduct ourselves with our neighbors to be able to love them as Jesus loves them because we now want the very best for them in this life and the next eternal life.
Because the human heart / emotions so strongly influences our every decision and step in life, we are instructed to diligently guard our hearts lest we should fall into the error and tragedy of following impure or unblessed relationships.
- Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.
For your protection and for the eternal welfare and as a loving witness to the one you are attracted to, the Holy Spirit left on record instructions NOT to pursue a human love relationship with someone who does NOT share your love for Jesus Christ.
What does the Holy Spirit command Christians concerning potential marriages or business partnerships?
– 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
Our Personal Application: When Philis and I first met and began to date the following conversation was discussed prior to continuing to meet in a dating relationship.
Jon: “Philis, I have a great warmth of affection for you and I wonder what that might mean? Before we can possibly consider continuing to date, I need to make one thing so clear. Please hear me out for at first it might sound very odd, but what I am about to say is critically important.
“Philis, you can NEVER be the number one love in my life. You will always be my 2nd most important love. Why? Because all human beings are commanded, rightly so, to love God first and foremost with all of our hearts. ONLY when that love is begotten in our hearts as our supreme love will I be given the “supernatural ability” to love you as you deserved to be loved and as God commanded that a man and woman ought to love each other.
“Only the people who love Jesus Christ supremely above each other will have the supernatural love to encourage and build each other up in holy marriage and the raising of children.
“We must first be united in loving Jesus Christ supremely. As we agree on that foundation for our dating relationship, only then is it safe for us to continue to see each other.”
With very grateful hearts, Philis and I entered together into the covenant to love Jesus Christ supremely BEFORE we continued dating which led to our marriage over 50 years ago.
Your Great Question: Where should I start?
Answer: After clearly settling the question in your heart of loving Jesus above all other loves, you could electronically forward our videos to the man who has captured your earthly affections. After that, your safe position to be able to avoid the risk of disobeying the Holy Spirit’s command and become unequally yoked together with an unbeliever, would be to immediately break off communication and leave all your future and the future of your friend in the hands of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit always blesses any person who desires to obey His Jesus’ words. The Holy Spirit will charge Himself with the responsibility to work out the very best possible future for you and for your friend, if your friend will also come to believe, trust and follow Jesus Christ.
As a result of leaving all in the hands of the Holy Spirit as you commit to daily prayer for His leading and providing, you will have committed all your future and the future of the man you are attracted to, into the Jesus’ hands to work out whatever is best.
- 1 Samuel 2:30 But now the Lord says: ‘Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.‘
Dear Friend, as you can now see, who you love is the most important decision you will ever make for it determines your eternal destiny.
We have written and attached an explanation paper about the love of God titled “Simon, do you love Me”
https://wasitforme.com/why-did-jesus-ask-simon-peter-do-you-love-me/
We hope you will choose to find some “alone-time” to read this paper. As you read, pray that Jesus would make His love for you so clear and give you supernatural power to love others as He loves them.
- John 14:20-21 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
- Mark 12:30-31 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
- Mathew 10:37-38 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
