Acts 16:30-31 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Saving Faith is totally dependent upon what one believes to be true about Jesus Christ. What one believes about Jesus and the discarding of anything untrue about Jesus are the single most important thoughts an individual will ever have! Why? One’s eternity, either in heaven or in hell, depends on the answer.
Salvation is simply: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved”
Believing what the Bible declares to be eternally true about Jesus and what Jesus said about Himself is what Saves us. The following is what the Bible declares to be true about Jesus. Will you believe?
- I believe God’s words to be completely true: 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God”; Matthew 1:20-23 “ . . do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
- I believe there was a place called Calvary outside of Jerusalem some 2000 years ago where three men were executed. Two of those men were convicted criminals. One man, named Jesus, was declared to be totally innocent of ANY crime, yet was executed because of religious persecution. – Luke 23:32-34 There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death. And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
- I believe this Man, named Jesus, was the Man on the middle cross executed that day. – Colossians 2:13-14 And you, being dead in your trespasses [sins] and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He [Jesus] has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He [Jesus] has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
- I believe that this Man, named Jesus, is the perfect Son of God who gave His life for me to pay for my sins. – Ephesians 1:7 In Him [Jesus] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
- I believe Jesus is God the Son as well as the perfect Man, sent from God. I believe that Jesus died, was buried, was raised again on the third day, was seen by many witnesses over many days and ascended into heaven to the right hand of God the Father. – 1 Corinthians 15:3-6 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas [Peter], then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once.
- I believe I am a guilty sinner and I need Jesus to save me from my sins for which I rightly deserve eternal death. – Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. – Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
- I believe Jesus’ words are totally true and the only way to eternal life is to be with Him in heaven and with God the Father: – John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. – John 6:66-68 From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?” But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
- I believe Jesus asks every person ever born if they love Him: – John 21:15 He [Jesus] said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?”
- I believe Jesus loves me and has asked me to love Him and follow Him: – John 15:9 [Jesus said] – “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. – John 14:23 [Jesus said] “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”
- I believe Jesus has asked me to tell others, as many as possible, about Him: [Jesus said] – Mark 5:19 “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.”
- I believe there is a place called heaven. I believe Jesus, upon my death, will take me to heaven to be with Him forever. – John 14:1-3 [Jesus said] “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
The following truths will also help you settle the questions in your heart and fuel your desire to “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved”.
- John 6:28-29 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him [Jesus] whom He sent.”
- John 1:12 But as many as received Him [Jesus], to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.
