And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” - Luke 23:42

Should I go to a Church?

Share Article

I know Jesus Christ is good, but people are not, so we don’t want to go to Church. What is your opinion?

We understand some of the confusion in your heart. To clearly settle your confusion you must be willing for a four part Examination Test.

  1. Was Jesus The Son of God?
  2. Did Jesus say His words were eternal and every man would be judged by them?
  3. Is the Bible inspired, infallible and true or it is completely false and a lie?
  4. Will I obey what the Bible clearly teaches about gathering with other Christians to honor and glorify God and encourage one other?

One does not dare “pick and choose” among Bible verses which they prefer to obey or might want to disobey. Please find the following inspired, infallible truth which answers your question.

Context: Jesus was perfect, yet He always desired to be surrounded by people. He loved people. He wanted the very best for them. He knew these people would eventually forsake Him and deny Him. He knew others would conspire to have Him arrested, mocked, blasphemed, tortured and hung on a cross to die by crucifixion which was the most cruel death man could devise.

Fact: Yet, this is what Jesus declared about “people” in the midst of incredible agony: – Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Personal Application: Jesus loved mankind, His creation and was willing to die for such wretched people. Can we sinful fallen creatures, His followers, be so self-centered that we refuse to even “meet with, ie., touch” other sinners simply because they are NOT PERFECT like our Lord and Savior, when the Holy Spirit has told us that gathering together with others to worship God is a command and illustration of our love for Jesus Christ?

Truth: The only physical way we can truly SHOW OUR love for Jesus Christ is to “love our neighbor” [Matthew 19:19] as ourselves. It is impossible to SHOW LOVE to people unless one physically meets with them. To obey the Holy Spirit’s command to assemble together will be a sure test of the love one has in their heart for Jesus Christ.

  • Hebrews 10:24-25 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
  • Luke 6:46-49 “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom

he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”

  • John 12:47-49 And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
  • John 14:23-24 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me.

When attending your sound Bible teaching church, it is good to keep Act 17:11 in mind which tells of the Bereans. “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” We are responsible to listen and confirm that what we hear aligns with Scripture.

We hope this helps you have more clarity. We welcome your questions and will be happy to attempt to respond to all of them as we have the opportunity.
