Is it ok to eat meat?
- If Jesus is kind, why do you kill innocent animals and eat them? Is it kindness?
- Why did Jesus consume meat?
Answer: Yes, Jesus is perfectly kind and ate meat because Creator God gave meat to His human creation for their encouragement and help with their work.
Animals, just like plants, are NOT innocent. Plants and animals have Life, but they are not made in the image of God and given Eternal Life. All plants + animals return to the dust and just like the sun and rain are given for man’s benefit to use for their wellbeing. Animals + Plants have NO MORAL life. They can not choose to disobey their Creator. Only mankind is given an eternal Moral Conscience which s/he can voluntarily choose to reject God’s command to Love Jesus and to Love one’s neighbor as themselves.
- Mark 12:29-31 Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
- Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
God our Creator specifically gave humanity the right to eat animals, with His full blessing and encouragement knowing this would be necessary and valuable for humanity to grow and flourish.
Genesis 9:1-4 So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
