Before Their Sin: – Genesis 2:25 And they [Adam + Eve] were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

After Their Sin: – Genesis 3:6-7 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

Upon reading the above facts, we choose to join with others who are inclined to guess that Adam and Eve were clothed in light. Light is one the clearest representations of God. It would make sense that He clothed His human creation made in His image with supernatural light.It was only after they sinned that their consciences condemned them. Because of their disobedience, fear and nakedness immediately came upon them as a clear witness to their rebellion and guilt.

Light is very, very important to Creator God as we read [1 John 1:5-10] God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. His Light will fill all the universe after He destroys this present universe and creates a new perfect universe where no sin or darkness will ever enter again.

– Psalm 104:1-4 Bless the Lord, O my soul! O Lord my God, You are very great: You are clothed with honor and majesty, Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment, Who stretch out the heavens like a curtain. He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters, Who makes the clouds His chariot, Who walks on the wings of the wind, Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire.

Truth: When God breathed the breath of life [supernatural light] into Adam, this light entered his body and his soul became an eternal being. Thus, all of Adam’s descendants born thereafter are born with an eternal soul and have an eternal destiny.

After death, because every person physically born into this world is an eternal being, each one will spend all eternity in either heaven with the Creator, Holy God, or in hell with their Deceiver, the devil.

Theme: 1 John 1:5-10 God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.

The future picture of heaven: Revelation 22:5 There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

This Light [God’s presence inside Adam + Eve] left immediately when they sinned. This exit by the Spirit of God was the FIRST death Adam and Eve experienced. Adam and Eve’s direct communication relationship with God was severed. At a later date, in the fullness of God’s perfect time, the physical bodies of both Adam and Eve died.

How will we, Adam’s descendants, ever be able to go from Eden, Paradise Lost, to Heaven with no darkness and perfect joy and peace forever?

Jesus, our Creator, plainly declared what must happen:

– John 3:5-8 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Additional commentary on God is Light –

God is the SOURCE of all ENERGY! In God the CREATOR, ALONE flows the ability to create out of NOTHING, by the communication of His will and give life to the inanimate.

In perfect holiness and purity there is no darkness in God. No darkness can stand in His presence. Darkness ALWAYS flees when LIGHT approaches. Darkness is the absence of LIGHT.

Humans are creatures made up of both Spiritual [eternal] and Physical [temporal] properties.

• Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion.”
• Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. [The LIGHT / Energy of God entered Adam and he became an eternal living being.]

Adam became an eternal living being with God’s spirit and was also given a physical body with which he would be able to communicate, have a conscience, feel emotions and be given a “limited free-will” to be able to choose right or wrong, good or evil.

What happened? Adam + Eve rebelled against God’s ONE and ONLY commandment to keep perfect fellowship with Him in their perfect environment.

• Genesis 3:8-13 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.” And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?”

Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

What did that sin bring to the entire human race? Death! Sin and death entered the bloodstream of all humanity born thereafter.

What does sin look like since that single act of rebellion?

All human beings are NOW born into the world WITHOUT RECEIVING

GOD’S SUPERNATURAL BREATH OF LIFE, and instead are born [through natural process] as children of the devil, their DECEIVER!

• Romans 3:9-18 they [all humanity] are all under sin. As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.” “Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” “Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways; And the way of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

What can we do? NOTHING! Our own power or deeds have no capacity to pay our sin debt of death due to the perfect justice of Holy God.

Just as we did NOTHING to cause Adam’s sin which gave birth to sin to the bloodstream of the entire human race, we can do NOTHING in ourselves to wipe away our sins and guilt. We are born with a sin nature and unless we are “born-again” we are condemned to eternal death.

We MUST have a SAVIOR outside of ourselves to restore us into fellowship with Holy God.

Just as we did NOTHING to cause Adam to sin, so we can contribute NOTHING to the LOVE of God who has chosen to LOVE US AND DIE IN OUR PLACE. We did NOT deserve Adam’s sin, NOR do we deserve Jesus LOVE and DEATH in our place, as He died for our sin and guilt.

Why did Holy God do this? Why did He voluntarily choose to undergo all this incredible pain and tragedy? Because God LOVES us, His creation, and wants a family to LOVE for all eternity. This family will be “born-again” to be like the perfect Son of God.

Why does God love us? Simple truth: God loves us because He loves us!

God loves us, His human creation. He clearly understood the impossible situation that UNLESS He came as Perfect Man/Perfect God to DIE and pay the Death Penalty due for the sins of any who would simply believe, trust, love and follow Jesus Christ, we would be forever condemned.

The ONE and ONLY Remedy: The LIGHT [the Spirit of God] must be birthed again into the hearts of men, women, boys and girls!

• John 3:3-9 Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” Nicodemus answered and said to Him, “How can these things be?”

This is how these things can be!

• John 3:14-21 . . even so must the Son of Man be lifted up [Jesus death by

crucifixion], that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”

As “born-again” Christ-lovers, Christ followers, what is OUR RESPONSIBILITY to stay in the LIGHT which has been reignited in our hearts?

• 1 John 1:5-10 that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. [This means continually moment by moment as we exercise the humility of confession and desire to remain in the LIGHT.]

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Jesus is the Light of the World!

• John 1:8-13 He [John] was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light [Jesus] which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

• John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

• John 12:44-50 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. And he who sees Me [Jesus, God the Son] sees Him [God the Father] who sent Me. I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him— the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His command is everlasting life.

Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”

Jesus Christ is the Greatest Love Story Every Told! The Innocent One [Jesus’ died for the Guilty [you and me] so the Guilty could be forgiven and life forever with Him in perfect Light where there will never again be any darkness.
